Description As the story goes, Hans and Florence Knoll were vacationing in France when they came across an early prototype chair by Pierre Jeanneret. This early example borrowed the inverted V shape found in his furniture designs for Chandigarh, India. By 1948, the Model 92 or the "Scissors" chair hit production and was a staple in the Knoll catalog for the next 18 years.
With the rise in forgery of Chandigarh designs, the Scissors chair has been a bright spot in Jeanneret catalog as the chair has been well documented in the United States with few replicas produces. This example, believed to be from the early 50's probably started out as a clear maple finish. Somewhere along the line, it was painted green, then turquoise, then black. We decided to refinish them but honor the as-found color.
